Satellite terminal Munich airport

The new satellite terminal at Munich airport was built to relieve the strain on terminal 2, after it exceeded the capacity limit of 25 million passengers per year from the end of 2011. Eleven million additional passengers per year can now be dispatched by the satellite. The satellite is not a new terminal, but a functional and operative extension to terminal 2 without its own landside connection. Passengers and employees at Munich airport appreciate the light-flooded building with its varied range of services. Flight passengers only need one minute to reach the satellite from terminal 2 with the underground passenger transport system (PTS).

Gross storey area of new build: 125,800 square metres. Gates: 52. Cost: 900 million Euros. Start of construction: May 2012. Opening: 26th April 2016.
